Free Online Tax Preparation and E-Filing Services Available for Eligible Los Angeles Taxpayers.

The Computer and Communications Industry Association are partnering with El Camino College Compton Community Educational Center to offer free income tax preparation and filing assistance!

Lower-income and active-duty military personnel from Los Angeles can get a head start on obtaining refunds through this tax payer assistance event on February 20th, at the El Camino College Compton Community Educational Center.

CCIA has teamed with Intuit, which is donating it's Turbo Tax Freedom Edition software, to assist eligible taxpayers prepare and file their federal and California tax returns electronically for FREE.

CCIA Free Income Tax Preparation and Filing Event. Participants can prepare and file their federal and California tax returns for free with Intuit's Turbo Tax Freedom Edition and coaching and support from trained volunteers.

Turbo Tax Freedom Edition is one of 20 online tax software services for free to eligible tax payers through the IRS Free File Alliance. Turbo Tax Freedom Edition helps people easily determined if they qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, a refundable tax credit that could help families get as much as $5,657 back from the IRS and, if they file electronically, they can receive their refund in as few as eight days.

Eligibility Information:
The program is made available to taxpayers who meet any one of the following criteria:

* Earned $31,000 Adjusted Gross Income or less in 2009
* Qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
* Served Active Military Duty in 2009-includes Reservists and National Guard - with a 2009 Form W-2 from the military and earned an Adjusted Gross Income of $57,000 or less.

Participants need to bring the following items:

* All W-2's, 1098's, 1099's, for 2009
* Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for each family member.
