LYNWOOD — The City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday night on a last-minute item submitted by representatives of FTP Productions for a film permit for the ABC series “FlashForward.”

Loosely based on the 1999 novel, “Flashforward” by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer, the show’s regular cast members include Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Sonya Walger, Jack Davenport, Courtney B. Vance, Dominic Monaghan, Gabrielle Union and Lee Thompson Young.

FTP Prods submitted a special application for a film permit at 2828 Butler Ave., for filming scheduled to begin Feb. 16 and end Feb. 18.

The production company also received approval to film at the location by both the Century Sheriff’s Station and the county Fire Department. The city Public Works Department also provided conditions for the permit. The company also paid a business license fee of $300 and public works fees in the amount of $538. Both were collected.

Council members wanted to know what type of show would be filmed at the location. When told it was for a series called, “FlashForward,” they all recognized the show.

“You should have started off with that,” Mayor Maria Santillan told staff members reading the item to the audience.

City Councilman Alfredo Flores jokingly asked if there would be any autographed head shots provided for council members of some of the cast members. “I’m just kidding,” he said.

The final vote was 5-0.

The ABC television series was put on hold in December, but is scheduled to return on March 18, with a two-hour opener. It is not known if the production company’s three-day shoot in Lynwood will be part of that episode.
