WEST HOLLYWOOD — Rapper-actor T.I., who co-stars in the current box office hit "Takers,'' and his wife were facing possible drug charges Thursday following their arrests on the Sunset Strip for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

The 29-year-old performer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, and Tameka Cottle, a 36-year-old singer, were booked on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, with bail set at $10,000, according to the sheriff's department.

The couple were in a luxury car that was stopped by deputies in the 9200 block of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff's department.

They were released on bail about 4 a.m., and their next court appearance will be some time in November, said Nicole Nishida of the sheriff's department.

Deputies stopped the car for an alleged illegal U-turn, Nishida said. It was unclear who was driving, she said.

"And then, as they (deputies) stopped them and conducted their investigation, they smelled a marijuana substance emitting from the car,'' Nishida said. "And at that point, they conducted a narcotics investigation, and then they found pills to resemble ecstasy.''

The pills were being tested, she said.
