WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama braved the snow Saturday to take in the college basketball game between Georgetown and Duke -- and he provided an added bonus to fans by providing the game's commentary.

Obama's motorcade traveled the several blocks from the White House to the Verizon Center to watch the No. 7 Hoyas take on the No. 8 Blue Devils from courtside seats with his senior advisor David Axelrod and deputy chief of staff Mona Sutphen. Both universities are ranked in the Top 10.

They were joined by Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, as well as White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and his son.

Obama walked into the arena to a standing ovation, although he was not officially announced, and he shook hands with those around him. The game was being televised on CBS.

Obama is known for being a big basketball fan and has played at least a dozen pick-up games with friends and members of his staff since becoming president.

It's unclear who he's cheering for in Saturday's game. However, his personal aide Reggie Love is a Duke alum. He played for the Blue Devils from 2001-2005 and was on the national championship team of 2001.
