ROSEMEAD — Rosemead High School band director Daniel Almanza was part of a panel of four instrumental music directors from across the United States that reviewed, discussed and presented new technology for the music classroom at the 2010 NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants) held at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“School Band and Orchestra Magazine, a nationally recognized magazine for educators, created an opportunity for educators to vote and present on the best tools for schools based on products at the NAMM show,” Almanza said. “Along with three other teachers, I was able to test products, vote and present my findings to my colleagues, manufacturers and artists at the show.”

The magazine was scheduled to publish the panel’s findings in its February issue.

Through Almanza’s participation, Rosemead High School will be “represented on a national stage and be at the forefront of new initiatives and technology for students.”

“It’s important for teachers to stay up to date and be actively involved in their professions,” Almanza said. “The people who really benefit from your knowledge are the students.”

The NAMM Foundation is “dedicated to advancing active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs from the international music products industry.”
