PICO RIVERA — The arraignment of former City Councilman Ron Beilke, that was originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed.

The arraignment was continued until April 14 at the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Beilke, who was defeated in his bid for re-election last November, is facing two felony charges of perjury and conflict of interest and six misdemeanor charges of taking gifts in excess of the legally allowed value and conflict of interest.

The conflict of interest charges stem from votes he cast on street improvement projects near the Weinerschnitzel franchise Beilke operates at the corner of Washington and Rosemead boulevards.

He also is accused of failing to declare more than $3,000 in free movie tickets he was given by the operator of the Krikorian Theatres in the city on statement of economic interests he is required to file.

It was the second time the arraignment has been delayed. Beilke was originally charged Feb. 2 and was expected to be arraigned the next day. That was postponed until Monday and then rescheduled for April 14.

Beilke’s attorney Anthony Willoughby said last month that he would plead not guilty to the charges.
