The Miss Teen Downey Court includes Princesses Lauren Brasov, 15, a student at Warren High School; Mariah Picou, 15, a student at Downey High School; and Katarina Schwietz, 15, a student at Rosary High School.

The Miss Downey and Miss Teen Downey courts will ride on the city’s float in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena next Jan. 1, said Susan Domen, president of the Downey Rose Float Association, a nonprofit group which builds the city float.

Winners also will take part in various city and Chamber of Commerce events including the chamber’s Holiday Lane Christmas Parade in December.

They will participate in Rose Float fundraisers including the sale of food at the city’s summer concert series at Furman Park, 10419 S. Rives Ave.

A total of 34 contestants, 23 for Miss Downey and 11 for Miss Teen Downey, competed by modeling business clothes, evening wear, sportswear and answering a question spontaneously.

All contestants took part in an opening musical production number, Domen said.

Alicia Winter - AKA Monica Winter lied on her application - she was not enroled in College at the time stated on the application and did not live in Downey at the time - she was living with a 40 year old boy friend.
