NORWALK — A tentative settlement has been reached in the sexual harassment suit against the city, but a separate suit concerning Councilman Jesse Luera was thrown out by the judge March 29, Luera’s wife, Mary said Tuesday.

She said Luera has been advised by his attorney not to comment until there is final agreement.

William Crosby, attorney for the plaintiff, former Public Safety Officer Cynthia Sanchez; and Paul Zeglovitch, liability manager for the Joint Powers Insurance Authority, which represented the city, both acknowledged a tentative settlement last week but said they could not go into details pending final approval by the Norwalk City Council.

Crosby, with the firm of Crosby, Barnes and FitzGerald, in Irvine; also represented, former Parks and Recreation Director Toni Tucker, who received $500,000 in a sexual harassment suit against Councilman Mike Mendez and the city, the latter for not halting the alleged harassment.

Mendez and the city admitted no wrongdoing but said the suit was settled to save the city an expensive trial.

A third harassment case, against Councilman Rick Ramirez, the city and employees at the Norwalk Senior Center, has been filed by former Senior Center employee Melody Baca, but no court date has been set. Ramirez has denied the charges.

Crosby also is representing Baca.
