LYNWOOD — Incumbent City Councilman Ramon Rodriguez managed to maintain his two-vote lead over former City Treasurer Iris Pygatt in final official results from the Nov. 3 municipal election.

The county Board of Supervisors certified the election results Tuesday.

On election night, unofficial results put all three council incumbents back in office, with Maria Santillan leading the way with 1,044 votes, followed by Councilman Jim Morton with 1,002 votes and Rodriguez in third place with 747 votes. Pygatt came in fourth place on election night with 729 votes.

But as the county’s official canvas began counting late absentee and provisional ballots, Pygatt moved into third place on Nov. 6, with 781 votes and Rodriguez into fourth place with 780 votes.

“After every election, an official canvas is required by law,” said Marcia Ventura of the county Registra of Voters office. “A canvas includes a full auditing of every ballot that has been cast, including any ballots that needed to be counted after election night.

“This happens with every election, be it a small election or a statewide election, the numbers on the day of the election can always change due to the audit that follows every election,” she said.

The final official results showed Santillan with 1,146 votes, followed by Morton with 1,009 and Rodriguez with 812.

Pygatt finished with 810 votes, followed by Edwin Jacinto with 711, Patricia Carr with 707 and Walter Lopez with 703.

The final official results in the Lynwood school board election showed incumbent Alfonso Morales Jr. with 1,124 votes and incumbent Rachel Chavez with 846 votes.

Dorothy Plummer Jones finished with 748 votes, followed by Ana Ventura with 732, Nancy Montes with 651 and Gloria Garcia with 194 votes.
