Bridge restored at Hollenbeck Park

BOYLE HEIGHTS — City Councilman José Huizar and other city officials were on hand Sunday at Hollenbeck Park for the ribbon cutting marking the restoration of the park’s bridge.

The city spent $450,000 to restore the bridge, which was closed more than five years ago because of safety concerns. In addition, Huizar secured $150,000 in additional city funds for landscaping upgrades, tree plantings amd the installation of an exercise equipment fitness zone.

The ribbon cutting was followed by the third annual Boyle Heights Concert and pre-Fourth of July Fireworks Show with community and food booths and entertainment by a variety of multicultural musical artists.

The bridge, which overlooks the park’s lake, has long been a destination spot for wedding and quinceañera photos. Huizar said he and his wife had wedding photos taken on the bridge.

I would like to get gym equipment like the equipment @ Hollenbech Park for Echo Park Huizar this renovation is Great for the community. I wish our councilman would do the same for us....
