EAST LOS ANGELES — The last two weekends of the Summer Arts Fest at the East Los Angeles Civic Center offer more movies in the park Friday and day-long activities Saturday.

Movies in Belvedere Park begin at sundown Friday.

Saturday activities begin with the farmers market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The East Los Angeles Library offers children’s activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An art walk offers local artists a chance to display their work from noon to 5 p.m.

From 5 to 7 p.m. there is a concert in the park and from 7 to 9 p.m. local musicians are invited to a large jam session that doubles as a dance party.

Featured this Saturday is the Spanish rock music of Sonsoles. The dance party that follows will focus on hip-hop music.

The Summer Fest closes Aug. 28 with a Taste of East L.A. featuring food from 20 of the best restaurants in the community from 2 to 10 p.m.

The concert that night will feature a salute to Chicano rock with performances by Los Illegals, Cava and other bands.

The East Los Angeles Civic Center incorporates Belvedere Park and county facilities such as the library, sheriff’s station and health center. It is located at 4801 E. Third St.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Gold Line Eastside Extension has a stop in front of the center.
