Applications sought for Miss South Gate

SOUTH GATE — The Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the Miss South Gate Pageant, to take place in early October at the South Gate Auditorium in South Gate Park, 4900 Southern Ave.

Exact date has not yet been determined, said Jaime Garcia, chamber manager.
Deadline to submit an application and the $25 fee is June 30.

Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 24 as of October and must live, attend school or work in South Gate, Garcia said.

They must be single, never have been pregnant or married, he added.

All applicants will be interviewed prior to participation in the pageant.

Members of the current court may not enter. Contestants who have never been on the court may enter the competition twice.

The competition will be based on a personal interview, modeling of a bathing suit or other type of sportswear and an evening gown and answering a question on stage, Garcia said.
