HUNTINGTON PARK — Several elected officials will join entertainment celebrities in the 59th annual Huntington Park Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Greater Huntington Park Area Chamber of Commerce Saturday.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. at Pacific Boulevard and Randolph Street and march south on Pacific to Florence Avenue, then west to Rugby Avenue, said Dante D’Earmo, the chamber’s executive director.

Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Los Angeles, whose 34th District includes Huntington Park, will be in the parade along with Yolie Flores Aguilar, a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education, who was raised in the city, D’Eramo said.

County Supervisor Gloria Molina will be the grand marshal while cartoon character Bugs Bunny, assisted by Daffy Duck, both from Warner Brothers, will be the parade marshals.

Huntington Park city officials also will take part.

Entertainment celebrities will include Carmen Villalobos, Pedro Rivera, Carmen Jara, Ailyn Mujica, Ninette Rios, El Mandril, Lianna Grethel, Humberto Luna, Jose Alonso, “El Plebe,” Francisco Quiroz, Olympic boxing gold medal winner Paul Gonzales, the Bob Baker Marionettes, actor Miguel Angel Rodriguez, Los Kitos characters, Grupo Bravada and Santa Claus, he added.

Other features include the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, mariachi groups, Aztec dancers, charro groups, clowns and 10 marching bands including the Long Beach Junior Concert Band, Huntington Park, Banning, Bell, Valley, Bell Gardens, Bellflower and Roosevelt high school bands, the Ralph Waldo Emerson band and the Santa Ana Winds.

There will be self-propelled floats with live red Poinsettias, the city’s official flower, D’Earmo said.

The parade, which draws about 250,000 spectators, will be taped and televised several times during the holiday season on PBS Station KLCS, Channel 58; and on regional cable channel 36, LA36, D’Eramo said.

Co-sponsors are the chamber, the city and the Business Improvement District, a semi-autonomous city-appointed group charged with funding and conducting promotions and programs on the boulevard.
