Jessica Gonzalez has been selected as Miss South Gate for the coming year in a pageant sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the city Nov. 7.

SOUTH GATE — Jessica Gonzalez, sponsored by the law offices of Richard Trejo, has been selected as Miss South Gate in the annual pageant conducted Nov. 7 at South Gate Park Auditorium.

First runner-up is Denize Rodriguez, sponsored by Funeraria del Angel.

Rounding out the court for the coming year are Cynthia Camacho, sponsored by Barreras Associates; and Jessica Almeida, sponsored by Beau Cheveux Salon.

Elizabeth Valle, sponsored by the South Gate Police Department PMA, was voted Miss Congeniality by fellow contestants.

Other conestants were Daphne Verduzco, sponsored by El Camino Real Estate; Barbara Montano, sponsored by Los Lagos; Alexis Benavide, sponsored by Nova Storage; Valeria Cano, sponsored by City Councilman Bill DeWitt; and Amanda Miranda, sponsored by AV Graffix.

The pageant will be shown on Time Warner Cable, Channel 3, on Thanksgiving Day, said Jamie Garcia, executive director of the South Gate Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event with the city.
