SYLMAR -- One of two men who allegedly shot at Los Angeles police officers remained at large Saturday, but the other is behind bars, authorities said.

A SWAT team was called out to a home in the 13000 block of Hubbard Street about 7 p.m. Friday, because police suspected the second man was inside, said Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Sara Faden. No one was found at the home, Faden said.

The events leading to the SWAT call began about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, when police were following a vehicle in Sylmar near Glenoaks Boulevard and Hubbard Street because they suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Faden said.

As police followed, the suspect car crashed and two men got out of the car and "started shooting at the officers,'' said Faden, adding that the officers returned fire but no one was hit.

The two men ran into the residential neighborhood, and one was arrested when police set up a perimeter search, according to an officer from the LAPD's Mission Station.

No description of the second man was available Saturday.
