Mt. SAC women defeat Trade Tech

Guard Brittney Lewis scored 22 points to lead Mt. San Antonio College to a 70-61 victory over L.A. Trade Tech Friday in a South Coast Conference North Division women’s basketball game.

The Mounties improved to 20-5 overall and 5-0 in the division. Trade Tech is 19-3, 2-3.

Lewis, who also had four assists, helped Mt. SAC catch fire in the second half after Tech built a 34-30 lead the first 20 minutes.

Forward Ashley Adams had 12 points and Joanna Matthews added 10 for Mt. SAC, which outrebounded Tech, 48-27.

Niauni Brown led Tech with 19 points and five assists and Heather Sutherland added 12 points and four assists. Jerronisha Green had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Malika Jones had nine points and Toni McLin grabbed eight rebounds for Tech.

L.A. Southwest 57, Long Beach 53
Keyanna Johnson had 17 points and eight rebounds and Zajve Woods had 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead L.A. Southwest to a 57-53 victory over Long Beach City Friday in a South Coast Conference South Division game.

Kamiko Cruse added nine points for the Cougars (13-9, 4-0), who led, 26-20 at halftime.

Lynnsie Naulls had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Rayven Sellers had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Long Beach (3-19, 0-4).

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Mt. San Antonio, the SCC North Division leader, edged L.A. Trade Tech, 73-71 Friday.

Antonio Biglow led the Mounties (21-4, 5-0) with 25 points. They also got double-figure scoring from Kane Robinson (12) and Kaimyn Pruitt (11).

Tryon Lewis paced Trade Tech (11-8, 2-3) with 15 points. Also scoring in double figures were Daundrekyc Parham (12), Darnell Campbell (11) and Austin Boawen (10).

Long Beach 72, L.A. Southwest 66
Chris Brown had 25 points and Darrin Kirk 21 to lead Long Beach past L.A. Southwest, 72-66 in an SCC South Division game.

LBCC (7-14, 3-2) led, 28-23 at halftime.

Bryce Lane scored 26 points to lead Southwest (10-14, 0-5). Casey Jones had 10 and Adrian Session added eight.
