Crenshaw clinches Coliseum title

Crenshaw High School clinched the Coliseum League boys basketball title outright Wednesday with a 71-59 victory over Fremont.

The Cougars will take records of 18-3 overall and 11-0 in league into Friday’s regular-season finale at Dorsey (14-10, 9-2), the league’s second-place team.

Dorsey needs a victory to stay ahead of third-place Fremont (18-7, 9-3), which completed its regular season Wednesday. Dorsey routed Jefferson, 76-40 Wednesday.

View Park Prep (11-16, 3-8) defeated Manual Arts, 64-26 in the other Coliseum League game Wednesday.

Following the conclusion of Friday’s games, the City Section seeding meeting will be held Saturday. The playoffs begin next week.

Marine League
Washington Prep 85, Gardena 71

Washington Prep nailed down the Marine League title with a 85-71 victory over Gardena. The Generals, who close the regular season at Banning Friday, are 10-1 in league, 17-7 overall. Gardena (15-9, 6-5) is at Banning.

Christian Frankling had 20 points and Matt Morris 19 for  Gardena in the loss to Washington.

Northern League
Franklin 62, Lincoln 48

Zeve Sanderson scored 27 points and was 5-of-11 on 3-point shots as Franklin (16-8, 9-0) defeated Lincoln, 62-48 in Northern League play.

Cesar Hernandez had 14 points and Alex Perea added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Coliseum League
Crenshaw 61, Fremont 39

Tierra Robinson had 18 points, 18 rebounds and eight blocked shots to lead Crenshaw (17-8, 8-3) past Fremont in Coliseum League play.

The Cougars, who led, 32-17 at the half, also got 14 points and seven rebounds from Andrea Edwards, eight points from Margo Batie and 12 assists from Samone  Kelly.

Dorsey 80, Jefferson 37
Ritia Bruce had 19 points, 12 rebounds  and five steals and Ashley Ware had 19 points on 4-of-5 accuracy from 3-point range to lead Dorsey (16-12, 6-5) to the easy win over Jefferson.

Kyndal Charleston added 16 points for the Dons, who had a 31-8 second quarter enroute to a 49-20 halftime lead.

League champion View Park Prep (23-5, 11-0) routed Manual Arts, 67-24 in the other Coliseum League game.

Northern League
Franklin 57, Lincoln 39

Rena Tomihara had 25 points, seven rebounds and five steals to lead Franklin past Lincoln, 57-39 in the Northern League.
Lorraine Lopez added 11 points and Roxanne Cardona contributed 10 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for the Panthers (12-13, 5-4), who led, 34-19 at halftime.

Wilson 60, Marshall 39
League-champion Wilson (16-5, 9-0) routed Marshall in the Northern game. The Mules outscored the Barristers, 22-5 in the third quarter to take control.
