Former Santa Fe High School standout Krystal Urzua had a record-setting season for the Cal State San Bernardino women’s basketball team.

Her reward: A spot on the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first team.

The senior guard, who resides in Downey, set school single-season records for most 3-pointers (68) and 3-point field goal percentage (.430), marks that led the conference.

Urzua paced the Coyotes in scoring at 16.4 points per game and was third in assists at 2.2 per outing. She scored 20 or more points in seven games, including a best of 29 in the opener against Hope International.

This is her initial time on All-CCAA first team. She was a second-team pick last season.

Former Lynwood High standout Reyana Colson, a junior guard for Cal Poly Pomona, is also on the first team.

Colson is the Broncos’ leading scorer at 16.7 points a game. She ranks 14th on the school’s all-time career scoring list with 1,221 points and is fifth all-time in free throws made (361) and free throws attempted (538). It is her third conference honor and second first-team honor.

“Reyana is a special player who makes her teammates better players,” Broncos coach Scott Davis said. “She gets everyone involved and makes our team go.”

Cal State Dominguez Hills is represented on the first team by junior guard Neka Mixon.

A second-team pick is Cal State Monterey Bay senior guard Helen Suarez from Pacific Hills High in Los Angeles and Glendale College.
Chelsea Carlisle of UC San Diego is conference MVP, Alishea Kelly of Cal State Stanislaus is newcomer of the year, Cal State East Bay’s Lauren Lucchesi is freshman of the year and San Diego’s Charity Elliott is coach of the year.

Men’s All-CCAA
Chris Fields of Cal State L.A. and Mike Cox of Cal State Dominguez Hills are first-team selections on the All-CCAA men’s team. Fields is second in the conference in scoring at 15.2 per game and also averages 5.9 rebounds per game.

Second-team picks include Marquintice Davis and Tim McGrath of Cal State Dominguez Hills, Dwayne Jones of Cal State L.A. and Aaron Hill of Cal State San Bernardino.

Hill, a Compton native who prepped at King-Drew High, averages 10 points, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He is a junior guard.
The conference MVP is Humboldt State guard Zac Tiedeman.

Cal State Monterey Bay guard Davion Berry is the freshman of the year, Marquel Hoskins of San Francisco State is newcomer of the year and Cal Poly Pomona’s Greg Kamansky coach of the year. Kamansky also won it last season.
