The University of Minnesota-Crookston football program continues to make recruiting inroads in Southern California.

The Golden Eagles’ added to the local flavor of the roster this week by signing El Rancho High School quarterback Josh Perea to a national letter of intent. Perea, who will graduate from El Rancho in June, plans to major in criminal justice.

In the fall he will be joining former El Rancho teammate Marcus Galan, who rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries as a freshman running back for Minnesota-Crookston this fall.

Also on the Golden Eagle roster is linebacker Rafael Ortega, a former Roosevelt High standout, and offensive lineman Michael Krause from Schurr. Ortega was in on 41 tackles, 18 of them solo, as a freshman in 2009. Krause just completed his sophomore season.

Minnesota-Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution that plays in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. It is coming off a 1-10 season.
