Pau Gasol of the NBA champion Lakers and world champion sprinter Allyson Felix received the 2009 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards at the fifth annual LA Sports Awards at the new JW Marriott at L.A. Live. The award is given by the L.A. Sports Council to the local male and female athlete whose performance and character best exemplified the ideals of sportsmanship during the calendar year.
