Since winning his first 27 pro fights, Chris Arreola’s progress up the heavyweight ranks has hit a snag.

The native of East L.A. has dropped two of the last three fights, including a 12-round majority decision to cruiserweight Tomasz Adamek in his most recent bout April 24.

He’ll be hoping to get back on track Friday when he takes on Manuel Quezada (29-5, 18 KOs) of Bakersfield in a scheduled 10-rounder for the vacant World Boxing Council FECOMBOX heavyweight title at Citizen’s Bank Arena in Ontario.
Action for the six-fight card starts at 6 p.m.

The 29-year-old Arreola, now a Riverside resident after spending his early years in East L.A. and attending Roosevelt High School up to his sophomore year, takes a 28-2 record with 25 knockouts into the bout. His other loss was to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko last year in a title fight.

Currently, Arreola is ranked ninth by the WBO, 10th by the WBC and 12th by the IBF.

Another fight on the card is East L.A. native and 2008 U.S. Olympic team member Shawn Estrada (7-0, 7 KOs) and Alex Armenta (7-1, 6 KOs) in a four-round matchup of super middleweights.

In a four-rounder featuring super flyweights, Matt Villanueva (1-0, KO) battles Alejo Guzman of Los Angeles, who is making his pro debut.

Other fights on the card are Josesito Lopez (26-3, 15 KOs) vs. Marvin Cordova Jr. (21-1-1, 11 KOs) in an eight-round welterweight bout, Michael Ruiz Jr. (4-0, KO) vs. Matthew Salazar (1-1-1) in a 4/6-round bantamweight matchup and Chad Bennett (24-4-3, 16 KOs) of Hollywood vs. Gary Bergeron (11-5, 6 KOs) of New Orleans in a 10-round junior welterweight clash.
