Tina Thompson, the last of the original WNBA players, is now first on the league’s all-time scoring list.

The Sparks forward surpassed former teammate Lisa Leslie, who retired a year ago after scoring 6,263 points, by hitting a 16-foot jump shot in the third quarter of a loss to the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Like Leslie, Thompson prepped at Morningside High School and went on to star at USC.

The now-defunct Houston Comets selected Thompson from with the first pick of the 1997 WNBA draft.

When the Comets folded after the 2008 season, Thompson signed with the Sparks as a free-agent.

Once the Sparks get past Tuesday’s game with the Fever,, five games remain on their schedule, all against Western Conference opposnents.

They reside in fifth place a half game back with two weeks left in the regular season as they bid for a playoff berth.
