Crenshaw High School gets another chance to boost its state ranking and prepare for the upcoming Coliseum League portion of the schedule when it visits J.W. North of Riverside at 7 p.m. Friday in a nonleague football game.

The Cougars (3-0), who have already gotten past Lakewood, Norco and A.B. Miller, are 10th-ranked in the state by maxpreps.com. Lakewood and Norco were both highly ranked. J.W. North (2-0), which has wins over Los Osos and Kaiser, is 24th in the state.

This one could be another high-scoring affair for Crenshaw, which is averaging 44.7 points per game following a 59-12 blowout of Fontana A.B. Miller.

North is potent offensively, as well, having beaten Los Osos, 47-21 and Kaiser, 28-12.

Crenshaw junior quarterback Marquis Thompson comes off a career-best performance in which he completed 15 of 20 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns against Miller.

Gregory Ducre (three catches for 157 yards) caught two of the scoring passes and fullback Hayes Pullard caught a TD pass. Geno Hall had six catches for 87 yards.

The running game netted another 257 yards, led by Geoffrey Norwood with 93 yards and a TD on nine carries and Le’jon Baker with 64 yards and a score on seven attempts. Qujuan Floyd had three rushing TDs.

Ronald Stovall paced the defense with 12 tackles (three solos) and a sack.

North has a fine one-two running back punch in Sedale Foster (25 carries for 286 yards, four TDs) and E.J. Schexnayder (42 for 277, five). Quarterback Justin Gheorge has thrown for 158 yards and a score.

Jordan (1-2) continues its tough preleague schedule by taking on Mater Dei (2-1) Friday at L.A. Southwest College. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

This will be another showcase for Jordan’s outstanding quarterback/running back/wide receiver DeShawn Beck, who had another big game in last week’s 42-21 loss to St. Bonaventure, the state’s top-ranked team.

Beck carried 16 times for 208 yards and two TDs and completed seven of 20 passes for 125 yards. He also handled punting duties and returned kicks.

Raymond Ford returned an interception 100 yards for a score, Rudolph Drayton was in on 19 tackles (14 solos) and Patrick Wooten was in on 12 for the Bulldogs.

In Mater Dei, they’ll be facing a Monarch team that has bounced back from a season-opening loss to Carson with victories over Cypress and Corona Centennial.

Max Wittek has replaced current USC quarterback Matt Barkley at that position for Mater Dei. His favorite target has been Victor Blackwell.

Santee wide receiver/defensive back Tevin Carter turned in an outstanding all-around performance in a 31-13 victory over South East Friday.

The Cal-bound standout caught seven passes for 209 yards, including 47- and 80-yarders for TDs from Patrick Tyler, rushed four times for 65 yards and a TD, recorded eight solo tackles, three assists and an interception.

----------
Fairfax, off to a 2-0 start, routed Lincoln, 42-10 last Friday.

Quarterback Dejon Mitchell was 8-of-15 for 141 yards and two TDs and ran for a score and Matt Bowen Jr. carried 10 times for 148 yards and a TD to pace the Lions, who face Chaminade Friday. Mitchell’s scoring passes went to Mark Russell and Ronnell Pompey.
