Quarterback Josh Perea’s one-yard run with 55 seconds remaining gave El Rancho High School a 27-23 victory over La Serna Thursday in a Del Rio League football game.

Perea’s score, which capped a 70-yard drive, kept alive the playoff hopes for the Dons (5-4, 2-2). They close the regular season next Thursday against Whittier at Cal.

La Serna (3-6, 2-2) took a 23-20 lead on a field goal by Teren Guerra, but El Rancho responded with a four-play drive for the winning score. Tate Harshbarger’s 50-yard put the Dons in position.

Earlier, Perea had a nine-yard scoring pass to Anthony Ayala and Ronnell Lone scored on a one-yard run for the Dons.
