Serra girls win Del Rey showdown

Raven Gammage scored 16 points, 11 during a decisive fourth quarter, to lead Serra High School past Bishop Amat, 55-47 Thursday in a pivotal Del ReyLeague girls basketball game.

It was the 11th consecutive victory for the Cavaliers (16-4, 3-0), who took over sole possession of first place. Bishop Amat, which had been tied for the lead, is 15-4, 3-1.

Serra is No. 1 in both the State Division IV and CIF-SS V-AA polls.

Gammage, a transfer from Inglewood’s St. Mary’s Academy, connected on six of eight free throws in the final two minutes to keep Amat at bay.

Danielle Muepo also had 16 points for Serra. Bria Richardson added 11 points.
