Jefferson avenges soccer loss

Jefferson High School, which has already avenged one loss, gets a chance to even the score again when it travels to Fremont Thursday for a pivotal Coliseum League boys soccer game. Action starts at 2:30 p.m.

The Democrats, 15-3 overall and 3-1 in league, are taking a Fremont team that handed them their only league loss, 3-2 Jan. 12. The Pathfinders (6-0-3, 2-0-1) are in first place.

A 6-1 winner over Manual Arts Monday, Jefferson atoned for a 1-0 loss to Locke Dec. 30 in the East L.A. Tournament by defeating the Saints, 2-1 Saturday at East L.A. College in a league game. It was a makeup of a Jan. 19 rainout.

Alex Avelardo and Oscar Gaona scored goals for the Democrats.

The Democrats, who avenged a 1-0 loss to Locke Dec. 30 in the East L.A. Tournament, are 15-3 overall and 3-1 in league. Locke is 5-5-1, 2-2-1.

Alonso Flores scored Locke’s goal.

Fremont defeated Crenshaw, 1-0 Monday on a first-half goal by Walter Gaitan. Abraham Raygoza assisted on the goal.

Crenshaw is 1-5-1, 1-4.
