Gray sparks Washington Prep win

Junior center Reshanda Gray had 24 points, 16 rebounds and four assists to lead Washington Prep High School to a 55-30 win over Banning Wednesday in a Marine League girls basketball game.

The 6-foot-3 Gray is averaging 20.6 points and 15.9 rebounds for the first-place team.

Gray’s performance helped the Generals improve to 15-9 overall and 6-0 in league. Kiana Furlow had 16 points and eight rebounds and Cheyenne Bonham added 12 points.

Washington Prep raced to a 17-10 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 32-18 by halftime.

Narbonne 42, San Pedro 30
Atoe Jackson had 12 points to lead Narbonne (14-7, 4-2) past San Pedro (7-9, 4-2) in another Marine League game.

Tailer Butler added 10 points.

Coliseum League
Dorsey 51, Crenshaw 49

Ashley Ware led a balanced attack with 13 points as Dorsey edged Crenshaw in a Coliseum League game.

Ritia Bruce added 12 points and eight rebounds and Kyndal Charleston had 10 points as the Dons improved to 14-9 overall and 4-2 in league. Crenshaw is 13-7, 4-2.

View Park Prep 62, Jefferson 35
Rachel Sample scored 24 points to lead first-place View Park Prep past Jefferson, 62-35 in the Coliseum League game.

Sydney Labot had 12 points and four assists and Danielle Pruitt added 10 points and seven rebounds for the winners, now 18-5 overall and 6-0 in league.

Manual Arts 45, Locke 43
Manual Arts (8-8, 4-2) recorded a hard-fought win over the Saints in the other Coliseum League contest.

Eastern League
Huntington Park 91, South Gate 10

The Eastern League-leading Spartans raced to a 37-2 lead after eight minutes and never looked back in the rout of South Gate.

Erica Garcia scored 23 points to lead the way, while Yubely Bernal collected 19 points and nine assists, Stephanie Papas had 14 points, seven assists and six steals and Fernanda Rodriguez added 16 points as Huntington Park improved to 18-5 overall and 6-0 in league.

South East 52, Garfield 40
Portia Tapscott had 14 points, Cynthia Cu had 11 and Liliana Renteria had 11 points and 14 rebounds as the Jaguars (12-9, 4-2) won the Eastern League game.

Garfield, which fell to 10-10, 3-3, jumped out to a 13-4 lead. South East responded with an 18-4 second quarter and an 18-12 third.

Roosevelt 54, Bell 47
Despite 19 points from Bianca Garcia, Bell (4-8, 1-5) dropped a 54-47 decision to Roosevelt.

Del Rey League
Bishop Montgomery 52, Serra 45

Bishop Montgomery bounced back from a loss to two weeks ago to Serra to knock off the host Cavaliers, 52-45 Thursday in a Del Rey League game.

It was the first league loss for Serra (18-5, 4-1), which won the first meeting with Montgomery, 77-69. The Knights are 18-6, 3-2.

Raven Gammage scored 16 points to lead Serra. Talia Rayford  had 13 and Bria Richardson added 12.

Ocean League
Inglewood 62, Morningside 43

Noelini Touisoa scored 13 points to help Inglewood (17-4, 4-1) defeat  its crosstown rivals in the Ocean League contest.
Point guard Hazel Ramirez added nine points, five assists and five steals for the Sentinels.
DeAndrea Toler had 17 points and Tesha Stokes had 10 points and 21 rebounds for Morningside (13-10, 1-4).

Santa Monica 64, Hawthorne 40
Jissel Ignacio had nine points, and Jennifer Garcia and Gloria Cacatian had seven points each for Hawthorne (9-9, 0-5).
