Leon Dillihunt, a sprinter from Dominguez High School, is part of the recruiting class announced by the UCLA track and field program.

Dillihunt, who had the number two time (46.60) in the 400 as a sophomore in 2008 and placed second at the state meet, is one of seven athletes to sign national letters of intent with Bruin coach Mike Maynard

The others are Michael Woepse (pole vault), Alec Faldermeyer (throws), Ronald Frasier (sprints), Cole Guerin (sprints), Philip MacQuitty (distances) and Pablo Rosales (distances).

“Leon is a great young sprinter with a lot of range and even more upside,” UCLA sprint coach LaMonte Vaughn said. “He has the ability to mature into one of the nation’s best sprinters.”

“We are extremely pleased with our recruiting class on the whole,” Maynard said. “In addition to Faldermeyer and Woepse, we are excited to have the commitment of many great signees who, as they develop, will continue the legacy of Bruin track and field.”

Sam changed his mind in the last week or two and decided to attend UO (where his family have been part of a throws dynasty).

What about Sam Crouser, #1 HS javelin thrower in the US? He supposedly signed w/ UCLA as well but no mention. He would be the top talent of all the signed athletes.
