Dorsey High School scored 11 runs in the third inning and seven more in the fourth and went on to rout King-Drew, 21-3 Monday in a Coliseum League baseball opener.
The Dons received two hits and two RBIs each from Stephen Smith and Roderick Jackson in what was also their first game of the season.
Jose Lamas added a sacrifice fly and two RBIs to support winning pitcher Salvador Rivas, who struck out nine and issued five hits in the five-inning game.
Locke 14, Jefferson 2
Locke (1-4 overall) opened the Coliseum League Monday with a 14-2 win over Jefferson.
Southern League
Los Angeles 14, Maywood Academy 6
Kevin Munoz (4 for 4) had three doubles, a triple, two RBIs and a save as Los Angeles topped Maywood Academy in the Southern League opener.
Hector Banuelos had two hits and four RBIs and Miguel Gonzalez had a pair of hits for the Romans (2-0 overall). Brian Canas got credit for the victory.
Maywood (4-2) got three hits and an RBI from Eric Escamilla, two doubles and an RBI from Ruben Castelo and two hits and an RBI from Drew Vega.
The two teams play again Friday at L.A.
Nonleague
Bell Gardens 8, Norwalk 7
Luis Saballos and Dennis Orozco had two hits each to lead Bell Gardens to an 8-7 victory over Norwalk Monday in a nonleague baseball game.
Saballos had a triple among his two hits and drove in a run, while Joshua Flores and Danny Romero each had a pair of RBIs for the Lancers, now 2-0.
Thanks to a five-run bottom of the second, Bell Gardens led, 7-3 early. Norwalk tied the score with three in the fourth, only to see the Lancers break the deadlock in the fifth.
Norwalk is 4-3.
Firebaugh 9, Glenn 6
Erick Garcia had four hits and two RBIs in Firebaugh’s 9-6 nonleague victory over Glenn.
Firebaugh, now 4-0, also got two hits and three RBIs from Robert Rodriguez and three hits from Tyray Gatewood.
Juan Vera doubled and tripled for Glenn (2-2).
