Los Angeles opened the softball portion of the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities World Series in impressive fashion by winning two games Tuesday on the opening day of the tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Shanel Tolbert pitched a two-hit shutout to lift L.A. past Philadelphia, 2-0 in the first game of pool play.

L.A. scored in the fourth and sixth innings to support Tolbert, who struck out six and walked two.

Center fielder Alia Williams, the former Crenshaw High School standout, had a double, triple and stolen base and second baseman Leesa Harris, a June graduate of Westchester headed to Cal State Fullerton, had a single and RBI. Each scored a run.

The losing pitcher was Emily Ashbridge, who allowed four hits.

In its second game of the day, L.A. routed Tampa, 10-3.

Leading the 13-hit attack was Harris, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, stolen base and four RBIs. Breeva Wright drove in three runs with a pinch single.

Megan Reiner blanked Tampa over the first four innings and wound up scattering 11 hits over seven innings to get the win. She struck out one.
