Stevie Mackey, Shelea Frazier and Wendi William were the instructors
for the John Davies Vocal Camp which was held at The Colburn School
this week in Los Angeles. The camp was open by audition only and with
a successful audition, young people were invited to study with world
renown Opera Singer, John Davies, free of charge for eight hours at Colburn School in Los Angeles.
Christopher Wright, Jocelyn
Woodson, Marquise Harris and Gabrille Thompson were some of the
awardees of the scholarship camp.
The instructors were all known forces in the music recording industry
and powerful singers in their own right and yet they gave their time
for a nominal fee to inspire the young singers. Shelea Frazier has
sung with Stevie Wonder, is part of the acclaimed Wilson & Company
inspirational jazz quartet and is a go to session singer for
professional recording artists. Stevie Mackey is an amazing singer
with a six octave range who was sung with gospel greats including
Tramaine Hawkins, is a background singer for television studio
programs and is also a vocal coach for many high profile celebrity
children. Wendi Williams is a member of the legendary Los Angeles
Woodson gospel music family. She is a powerful praise and worship
leader for large churches in the Inland Empire and she is also a
budding songwriter of vocal and non vocal pieces for motion pictures.
The John Davies Vocal camp students worked with the teachers on
perfecting the techniques they leaned in John Davies' master classes
and the students formed close bonds with these selfless artists who
gave of themselves and their time for the LA area youth.
